Monday Ebong Uko should be celebrated … Coach Umoh

The re-appointment of Sir Monday Ebong Uko back into the State Executive Council as the Commissioner for Youth and Sports has continued to generate positive reactions.

In his reaction, the Zonal Sports Coordinator incharge of Ukanafun/Oruk Anam/Ika Sports Zone, Coach Aniekan Umoh has described the re-appointment of Sir Monday Ebong Uko as meritoriously, well-deserved and a blessing to Akwa Ibom Sports industry.

Coach Umoh who spoke with journalists in Uyo, thanked the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for re-appointing Sir Monday Uko whom he described as a “square peg in a square hole” back into the State Ministry of Youth and Sports as the Commissioner.

The Zonal Sports Coordinator thanked God for sparing the life of the Commissioner during the tragic incident of the collapse Reigners Bible Church building along Uyo Village Road, Uyo, stressing that God has a purpose for saving his life so as to take the sports ministry to greater height.

The football tactician pointed out that Sir Monday Ebong Uko should be celebrated by the people of the state based on the achievements he has recorded in the Ministry of Youth and Sports since assumption of office.

He listed some of the achievements to include; Federation Cup victory, the first in the history of the state, establishment of sports centres across the 10 Federal Constituencies which according to the Zonal Sports Coordinator, would create job opportunities and provide facility for the training and discovery of talents who would represent the state in future competitions, formation of new football clubs which he noted, has created employment opportunities to the youths of the state among others.

The Zonal Sports Coordinator thanked the Commissioner for putting smiles on the faces of staff of Ministry of Youth and Sports through provision of beautiful Christmas packages, despite the economic recession.

Coach Umoh who is also the Assistant Secretary Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), Sports Council Branch expressed happiness that Sir Monday Uko has returned back to the Ministry of Youth and Sports to continue on the good works he has already started.

He prayed God to continue to guide and protect the Commissioner and give him more wisdom to pilot the affairs of the Sports Ministry.
