Etinan Federal Constituency 2019: Ikon begs Udom, Akpabio for PDP ticket
. Goes desperate over second term bid
. Zoning favours Nsit Ubium – Party

In a desperate bid to secure a second term in the House of Representatives come 2019, incumbent member representing Etinan-Nsit Ubium- Nsit Ibom Federal Constituency, Hon Sam Ikon has resorted to begging Governor Udom Emmanuel and Senator Godswill Akpabio to aid his return to the Green Chambers with an automatic ticket that looks impossible at the moment.
Newslinkng.com can authoritatively report that Ikon has totally lost faith in his ability to attract maximum votes in the upcoming PDP primary which will be used to choose the party’s candidate for the general election billed for early next year.
According to party (PDP) sources, with the likelihood of AKHA Speaker, Onofiok Luke throwing his hat into the ring for the same Etinan Federal Constituency seat come 2019, Ikon who is a former speaker of the State Assembly has grown jittery over the development, hence his decision to solicit for an automatic ticket to help him edge Luke out of the equation.
Newslinkng.com can also firmly report that Ikon has been one of the federal lawmakers lobbying the State PDP to implement a strange decision that will see every incumbent federal lawmaker (performers and non performers) given tickets to return in 2019.
However, according to party sources, the plan which has been hatched by Ikon and Co. doesn’t look likely to see the light of the day.
Newslinkng.com can also report that apart from the fact that Ikon will have a mountain to climb in trying to pip Luke to the PDP ticket at the primary, mathematically, with reference to zoning, now clearly adopted by the PDP in Akwa Ibom State, the Etinan Federal Constituency seat seems destined to be occupied by someone from Nsit Ubium.
Records made available to this reporter by a key party officer from the Federal Constituency reveal that Rt. Hon. Ema Bassey from Nsit Ibom represented the Federal Constituency for eight years. Thereafter, Hon. Surv. Aniedi King from Etinan did four years while Rt. Hon. Sam Ikon is about completing four years, making it eight years for Etinan LGA.
Rt. Hon. Dan Akpan from Nsit Ubium had earlier done four years, leaving Nsit Ubium with the opportunity in 2019 to complete their own eight years, like others have done.
