Akwa United playmaker, Aniekeme Asuquo has assured fans of the team that the ‘Promise Keepers’ will not leave Lokoja empty handed after their Week 4 npfl fixture against Niger Tornadoes on Wednesday.
Akwa United who are second on the npfl table after three matches arrived the Confluence Town of Lokoja on Monday in high spirits after defeating Yobe Stars 2-0 two days ago.
‘Perere’ who has taken the Nigerian top flight by storm with brilliant performances since making his debut against Enugu Rangers in week 1 says picking up maximum points against Niger Tornadoes in their adopted Lokoja home is their prime target.
The petit midfielder who only last season was plying his trade with Akwa Starlets in the NNL before making the leap to the npfl with Akwa United says himself and his team-mates are motivated by the string of away wins recorded by other teams in the four week old npfl season.
“If other teams can travel and win at away venues, why can’t we do the same tomorrow”?, he asked.
Continuing, he said: “We won’t travel all the way from Uyo to Lokoja and just lie down and allow Tornadoes trample on us just like that. We will do our best to stun them here”.
On Wednesday, Akwa United will be guests of Niger Tornadoes in the confluence city of Lokoja the Kogi State capital.
Niger Tornadoes who have adopted Lokoja as their home will strive to return to winning ways tomorrow after losing narrowly to Wikki Tourists on Sunday. The match will be a replay of the recent Aiteo Cup final where Akwa United defeated Tornadoes 3-2 in a dramatic penalty shoot-out win.
