Etido Inyang: 53 Hearty Cheers To A Humble Servant Leader

Plenty heads were turned in surprise ten years ago when Engr Etido Inyang left his rewarding and influential role with Oil giants, Schlumberger Oilfield Services for public service cum politics, at the behest of then Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Born on January 8, 1965, Inyang, as a proficient Civil Engineer with immense ability, skill and know-how had made loads of valuable impact in his chosen field, building a vibrant career at Schlumberger Oilfield Services and had sent tongues wagging considering his relative young age.
Following his employment by Schlumberger in 1989, Engr Inyang’s 18 years of engagement to the Oil giants was evidenced in the diverse positions of responsibility entrusted to him. To his credit were positions such as project manager, directional drilling engineer, field services manager, technical manager, location manager, quality, health, safety environment and risk manager, Nigerian content development manager.
Schlumberger, seemingly impressed with his capacity and skills were moved to reinforce his technical competence though various in-service training, one of which was at the Directional Drilling Engineering School in Houston, Texas, USA.
Since making the bold decision to quit the Oil Company in the interest of Akwa Ibom State in 2007, Engr Etido Inyang has without fuss fused a blend of effectiveness, trustworthiness, humility in public service and has managed to stay decent in his political life till date.
As Special Adviser in the Bureau of Technical Matters under Akpabio and then as Commissioner for Special Duties under Governor Udom Emmanuel, Engr Etido Inyang comfortably kept his head up and could easily be classified as one who was never found wanting in public service.
Now, as Chairman of Board of Ibom Power Plant, Engr Inyang has slotted in smoothly and has been proving his mettle as far as piloting the highly regarded Power Plant is concerned. Since resuming as Board Chairman, Engr Inyang has been spearheading the process of moving the Ibom Power Plant into phase two of production. The Plant currently runs a generating capacity of 191MW but has a total installed capacity of 685MW. The second phase when completed will generate not less than 500MW – all to the benefit of Akwa Ibom State.
To those who know him well enough, Engr Etido Inyang is a role model, philanthropist and servant leader, always keeping service above self.
Those who have had opportunities to work with him can attest to his competence, uncommon managerial skills, dependability, multi-tasking abilities, loyalty and team-work capabilities. Everywhere he has found himself, he has continued to distinguish himself as an achiever and team leader.
His philanthropic gestures propelled by a genuine desire to render intervention initiatives will forever endear him to his people who are always marveled by how much he sacrifices to help-out but will always insist in keeping it hush.
Engr Inyang is happily married to the love of his life, Mrs. Nse Etido Inyang. The union is blessed with four children; Ndifreke, Uduak, Etieka and Ubong.
