NFF consider Akwa United coach, Maikaba for Eagles job

Akwa United may soon pay the price of an impressive season in the npfl as their exciting Head Coach Abdul Maikaba is on the verge of being handed a role as a national team coach by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Maikaba, a Kano State indigene joined third placed Akwa United from Wikki Tourists and has completely turned around the fortunes of The Promise Keepers from perennial underachievers to title contenders.
According to a press release from the NFF and made available to NEWS LINK, Maikaba alongside former Super Eagles star-winger Finidi George, Enyimba manager Gbenga Ogunbote, former Golden Eaglets captain and ex-Remo Stars coach Nduka Ugbade and 53 other Nigerian coaches have been selected for interviews into various vacant positions in the national teams.
NEWS LINK confirmed that MFM head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and league leaders Plateau United coach Kennedy Boboye are also invited for the interview slated for Tuesday August 22, 2017.
The vacant positions are the head coach, assistant coach and goalkeeper trainer in the U-17, U-20 and U-23 national teams (men), the U-17 and senior national teams (women) and the Beach Soccer national team.
According to a media release from the NFF’s Communications department, the shortlisted candidates were picked from the list of applicants who applied for various positions.
The release also revealed that all the invited coaches are expected at the NFF Secretariat, Abuja on Tuesday with their original credentials and other relevant certificates and documents.
The NFF added that all the coaches would be responsible for their movement to and from Abuja, as well as their upkeep and other personal expenses in the Federal Capital Territory.
