Akpabio splashes N27.4 million on 247 Ikot Ekpene students

The joy of 274 students of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State, knew no bounds today, as they smiled home with N100,000, each.

The financial empowerment is the initiative of the Senate Minority Leader and member representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Sen. Godswill Akpabio.

Majority of the beneficiaries are from less privileged families, who were thoroughly selected after examination from Abak, Etim Ekpo, Ika, Oruk Anam, Ukanafun, Essien Udim, Ikot Ekpene, Ikono, Ini and Obot Akara Local Government Areas, making up the Senatorial District in the Upper Chamber.

The students whose were beamed with smiles throughout the event, expressed gratitude to Senator Akpabio for giving them “the greatest empowerment for life”.

They promised that they will forever remain grateful to their Senator for encouraging them in their educational pursuits.

With the financial empowerment, the students said they will be able to achieve their dreams of becoming graduates.

Among the beneficiaries is a student of Medicine and Surgery from the prestigious University of Uyo, whose Polish English at the event, attracted admiration from Senator Akpabio and Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo who also witnessed the ceremony.

The event, which was personally supervised by the Senator himself, saw Akpabio signing cheques for N27.4 million to all the students.
