OBA VS BAFIL: Court adjourns to October11,2017
The Court of Appeal sitting in Calabar on Monday 12th June, 2017 resumed hearing of the appeal filed by Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert against the judgment given by Justice Fatun Riman on the 27th of February, 2017 of the Federal High Court 2, Uyo in a pre-election matter between him and Mr. Bassey Etim.
NEWS LINK can report that Paul Usoro SAN led the team for the appellant (OBA) while MBA Nkwenim SAN led the team for the 1st Respondent (Bassey Etim) Goddy Umoh led the team for the 2nd Respondent(PDP).
According to reports, motion for the enlargement of time to file the brief of argument moved by Paul Usoro SAN and was granted. The appellant has been given 7 days to file his brief argument.
There was however a mild drama as to the representation for the Peoples Democratic Party,it was resolved by the different counsel that Goddy Umoh’s appearance suffice. Both 1st and 2nd Respondents did not oppose the application for enlargement of time.
The Court has accordingly adjourned the case to 11th October,2017.
By this adjournment, Senator Bassey Albert remains the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East in the 8th Senate.
