HOST COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS SCORE MAN ORON ACTING RECTOR HIGH ON PURPOSEFUL ADMINISTRATION

Apparently impressed by the open door leadership policy, transparency, discipline, quality service delivery, teamwork spirit, prompt attention to corporate social responsibility and fertile sense of administration exhibited by the Acting Rector/Registrar of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, Pastor Mkpandiok Ante Mkpandiok in the management of the Academy, Stakeholders of the Academy’s immediate host community under the aegis of Eyoabasi Maritime Host Community Relations Committee have described the Acting Rector as an agent of positive change in the Academy and also scored him high in the Management of the institution.

Pastor Bassey Umoh, the Chairman of Eyo-Abasi Maritime Host Community Relations Committee who led the Executive Members of his Committee on a Courtesy Call on the Management of the Academy, made these lofty observations during the last weekend. According to the group, Pastor Mkpandiok has upped the ante of performance in the Academy by entrenching sound academic culture and turning the once volatile Maritime Community into a peaceful, serene and regimented academic environment. The Chairman of the body expressed the hope that with Pastor Mkpandiok Ante Mkpandiok, the future of the academy is brighter and secured.

In their separate comments, former Permanent Secretary in Akwa Ibom State Government and prominent daughter of Oron, Mrs. Ivy Esin, former Vice Chairman of Oron Local Government Area, Mr. Okon Asuquo Eyo described the acting Rector as a seasoned administrator with unwavering commitment and deep passion for the repositioning of the academy to meet international best standards. They noted that the entire Oro Nation will remain ever grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari if the academy becomes a University and Pastor Mkpandiok who holds a distinguished record of one of the soundest lecturers at the Academy is given the opportunity to mid-wife the headship. “From our findings, the present acting Rector of the Academy had worked directly with not less than five past Rectors of the Academy and could be termed a thorough-bred.”

“Therefore, if you keenly follow the staff progression indices and events in the Academy, you will conclude that the search for a qualified substantive Rector for the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron is not supposed to be a hard search if the track record of the current Acting Rector/Registrar of MAN Oron were placed on a scale,” one of the members posited.

The EyoAbasi MAN Oron Host Community Relations Committee appealed to the Management of the Academy to sustain its corporate social responsibility to them through training of their youths in various skills using Academy’s Short Courses Training Programme, award of contracts in line with the deferral Government Local Content Policy, admission quota for the host community, award of scholarship for indigent cadets and students of Eyoabasi community, financial assistance for the upkeep of the Committee among others.

Earlier in his remarks, the Registrar/ Acting Rector of MAN, Oron, Pastor Mkpandiok Mkpandiok congratulated Members of the Committee on their merited appointment into Eyoabasi Maritime Host Community Relations Committee and solicited a robust synergy and partnership between the Academy Management and the Eyoabasi people. Mkpandiok expressed gratitude to the Academy Host Community for providing a conducive and rancor-free working environment for the Academy Community. He further appreciated the confidence reposed on his administration and promised to remain resolute and focused in his avowed determination to catapult the institution to its apogee of greatness.

The acting Rector used the meeting to intimate the Eyoabasi stakeholders of the federal government’s preparedness to transforming the Academy to a University, describing the development as worth-while. He expressed hope that once the university status is given, what the Academy needs will be a little time to change the curriculum and upgrade facilities. He advised Oron people to eschew blackmail, petition writing, character assassination, but remain supportive to the genuine federal government’s plans to make the Academy a world-class Maritime institution.

In a related development, the Academy also played host to the Management of Etopo Control Service led by its production Manager, Teodoro Quindara, Jnr. and the South South Zonal Executive of ICPC. They also spoke glowingly about Mkpandiok’s transparent disposition and Managerial prowess in the administration of the Academy.
