ATUEKONG ANAKA EMERGES POLITICAL LEADER OF OTORO WARD 1

A renowned politician and business magnet, Atuekong Ofonmbuk Anaka has emerged as the Political Leader of Otoro Ward 1 in Abak Local government Area.

Atuekong Anaka who was unanimously chosen as the new Political Leader of the ward in a colourful ceremony which took place during the New Year Get-Together Party of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Ward, was said to have over the years contributed to the emergence of successive administrations in the Ward, local, State and National levels.

The new Political Leader was recently conferred with a chieftaincy title by the Village Head of Atai Otoro, Obong (Pastor) Ikpe Thomas Udofia for his outstanding contribution to the development of the Community.

The colourful ceremony was attended by who-is-who in the politics of Otoro Ward 1 including the Chieftains and ward executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Uwem Udoma, a former Commissioner in the State and APC Chieftain, Barr. Joe Ukpong, Obong Koko Abia, APC Chapter Chairman for Abak, Mr. Mfon Ukpe, Adede Nna Mboho among others.

At the occasion, more than 50 PDP faithfuls decamped to APC. They thanked Atuekong Anaka for hosting the new year get-together and for always carrying the people along. They regretted that the PDP-led government did not present anything to the masses during the Christmas and New Year celebrations except to the PDP Chapter and ward officers. “We are happy to join APC today. PDP are selfish people who do not have the interest of the masses at heart. Let their Ward and Chapter officers vote for them during future elections”, one of the decampees remarked.

Some of the PDP Ward executive members who were present at the occasion, promised to join APC soon as according to them, the Party has hope for its members and a very bright future.

Those who spoke at the occasion, congratulated Atuekong Anaka on his emergence and promised to support and work together with him to move the Ward forward

It would be recalled that the political leadership position in the ward was held by the late former members of the House of Representatives, Obong Ezekiel Anaka since the return of democracy in 1999. Following his demise some years ago, the position was taken over by the Member for Abak State constituency, Elder Friday Iwok whose reign expired in December, 2016.
