Aupectre Makes Case For Employment Of Athletes
The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) Akwa Ibom State Chapter (Sports Council Branch), has called for the employment of athletes and more staff into the State Sports Council.
The Chairperson of the union, Comrade Elizabeth Joy Ayara-Ekpe who made the call during the end-of-the-year meeting of the union, lamented lack of sports equipments and facilities to enhance optimal performance.
Comrade Ayara-Ekpe who was flanked by other executive members, pointed out that employment of athletes both male and female and indigenes of the state who are experts in the sporting sector will beef up the work-force of the State Sports Council as more staff are expected to retire in the coming years.
The Chairperson stated that the union has risen up in the spirit of the “Dakkada” philosophy of the state government and called on members to join hands together and work to move the union forward.
She described as wickedness a situation where athletes after representing the state at various competitions are denied their entitlement.
Comrade Ayara-Ekpe assured that the union under …… leadership will be transparent in all its dealings and correct all anomalies.
The Chairperson lamented a situation where some people had retired but refused to go, only to stay and block the growth and progress of the union.
She used the occasion to wish members a very peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations.
