Environmental Sanitation: Abak L.G Records Massive Turnout
In compliance with the directive of the state government, the people of Abak local government area this morning embarked on environmental sanitation exercise to keep the area clean.
The people were seen removing debris from gutters, cutting grasses, sweeping their surroundings, filling pot holes and also clearing their environment.
The Transition Committee Chairman for the area, Dr. Emmanuel Udosen led other Transition Committee Members and some Senior Citizens of Abak to cut grasses in the Council Secretariat and later went round the local government area to monitor the conduct of the exercise.
Addressing the large crowd at Abak local government secretariat at the end of the exercise, Dr. Emmanuel Udosen thanked the people of Abak for keying into the state government’s vision of “Dakkada” by coming out in large numbers to participate in the exercise.
The Transition Committee Chairman specifically thanked the State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo for always coming out to participate in the sanitation exercise and for his fatherly advise which he noted, has helped in the running of the council.
Dr. Udosen lauded the effort of the State Ministry of Environment for keeping the state clean and thanked the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Effiong Charles Udom for donating some equipment to be used for sanitation exercise by the council.
He assured that the people of Abak will always continue to participate in the sanitation exercise, describing Akwa Ibom as the cleanest state in Nigeria.
The Council Chairman congratulate the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the state creation and the successful launching of “Dakada Initiative”, assuring him of the total and unalloyed support of the people of Abak throughout the eight years he will stay in the Hilltop Mansion.
Some of the dignitaries who participated in the sanitation exercise included the Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, Member Representing Abak State Constituency, Elder Friday Iwok, Provost Akwa Ibom State College of Education, Afaha Nsit, Dr. Patrick Uko, Brig. Gen. Godwin Afangideh (Rtd), Major Samuel Eyo (Rtd), Mr. Anthony Udotim, Chief Okon Udoh, Barr. Imoh Ben Imoh, Sir Gabriel Etim, Elder Ikemesit Ayara, Mr. Eseme Essien, Chief Offong Charles Inyang, PDP Chapter Chairman for Abak, Obong Udobong Mbeye among others.
